In a hot stone massage, smooth, flat stones are heated and used to help relax the muscles so that the therapist can work deeper for a more intense therapeutic experience. And, because the heat of the stones is so relaxing, most people can receive deeper work. That makes the hot stone massage ideal for people who are extremely tight, but need good, deep work.
What to Expect
Each therapist may have a slightly different technique, but in general, a few stones will be placed on your back or stomach, which warms your core and is very relaxing. The therapist will then use other stones to massage the body, using the stones in much the same way they typically use their hands.
We like to warn clients that hot stone massages are very addictive! Once you experience this ultimate relaxation, it’s hard to go back to a normal therapeutic massage.
